Since regaining my love for all things sewing in 2021, months are measured in projects completed. My last fully completed project of 2021 was designed by The Makers Atelier, the delightful tie blouse and dress pattern.
The makers Atelier Tie Blouse pattern
I have had a picture of this pattern on my ‘inspiration notice board for sometime. I finally found 2m of soft brushed cotton plaid fabric from Fabworks Mill shop it arrived quickly and was very well priced. Always order extra when wanting to match stripes or plaid etc.
The Makers Atelier produce wonderful patterns.
I am a big fan of The Makers Atelier. Their patterns are inspired by simple contemporary but classic style, Perfect for this midlife sewist and include excellent instructions and tips and I can highly recommend.
I made a toile to test for style and fit, then decided to widen the tie collar and lengthen and widen the arms (afterall it is Winter here in the UK! This worked well,
Next time I will cut a smaller size next time (I cut a 14 ) as I felt it was a little baggier than I intended. My next make will be with short sleeves as per the pattern, in a viscose, fabric with a silky drape. Watch this space.
It is a simple make and can be sewn up in a couple of hours. I finished the hem by hand for a neat finish. Of course there is a super chic dress or tunic version to consider too.
The Pattern Style In This Fabric Is Very Wearable:
This blouse goes with everything and became a key piece in my winter wardrobe. I wear it with jeans, chinos, corduroy skirts and layered big knits .
