Can we talk about style as opposed to fashion? Whilst reading through my March Vogue (yes it arrived this week!) and last weekends Sunday style supplements, I notice a divergent between the two. The 2020 style trends vs the fashion trends. I am all for one and will never become a victim of the other! I’m sure you know what Im talking about, fashion dates but style is immortal, Gabrielle aka ‘Coco’ Chanel said it best:

These are the 2020 style trends I love, already own and will wear week after week…

Yes I know, SPRING = TRENCH every single year right?
The trench coat is always paired with the adjective ‘Classic’ and for good reason. Did you know that a good quality trench coat should last for life. No wonder ‘trench style’ is huge for 2020, it has become an Eco hero. Her are some of mine I have three at present:
- A pale blue mid length one from Hobbs, New season one available here
- An old mid-length cotton one from Boden.
- A new easy to wear pale beige one from Cos above and below (my favourite)
Blue Denim is everywhere…
Leading on from the trench, it has to be denim, another classic.
Yes I am and will be forever in blue jeans and there is nothing wrong with that. I have many pairs all different blues with various fit and cut. A word; you will not have seen me in skinny jeans for at least 2 years and you wont be seeing me in them in 2020. Straight cut yes, but not skinny, and a relaxed fit always.

Do the double and even triple denim trick, wear denim dresses, shorts, jackets layer up and go for it. Just make sure its denim says Vogue! I intend to go charity shopping for a denim Jacket this year, I will be looking through the men’s rail and keeping it over-sized.
Stompy Boots are here to stay.
Lug-soled styles paired with boxy bags were all over the Danish capital this week for Copenhagen Fashion week.
I bought mine from Vagabond late last year…they are still available from Office Shoes
Another 2020 style Trend for Summer I will be investing in:
The white dress, but not a sheer one, it has to be lined with short sleeves and long and flowing!
[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]…And A trend I will ignore, having done it all before in the 80’s. NEON BRIGHTS are not for this 56 year old, nope not this year![/perfectpullquote]
So for spring I will be wearing my wide jeans, with a denim shirt, topped off with a short trench and some Stompy boots! How about you?
My little box bag in these pics is available in various colours in the Hobbs sale at the moment , I love this colour version!
Oh and before I forget to tell you, I love this Cos bag so much I bought it (whilst researching accessories for this post) OOPS!
Take a look and tell me what you think, its very different and keeps selling out…it arrived today and I’m overjoyed with it.
