As I write, the new year is already 20 days old, how can that be? We have only just put the Xmas decorations in the attic and its almost February! Those 20 days have consisted of hard work, spring cleaning, one dry January failure and some new habits to keep healthier.
A January Spring Clean.
The sun came out and the sky was blue, so far so good until I noticed all the windows looked filthy. Spring was in the air! Time to get the cleaning stuff out, hoover, dust and of course re-arrange the furniture. My son commented on the fact, that I ‘appear to love re-arranging the furniture’ I think he is right!
Did you read ‘The Wind In The Willows’when you were younger? If so you will understand why this time of year reminds me of Mole as he was whitewashing his little home and heard the call of spring…
The images in this post were taken after the big clean up…

A Dry January Failure or is it?
For the first time in my adult life I decided to attempt an alcohol free month and join in with Dry January. Marc valiantly agreed to support me by doing the same. What were we thinking? We both love a drink at the end of the day but we are not heavy drinkers, mainly wine and beer, with the occasional brandy for him and a gin for me.
On the first of January I set up a calendar and we ticked off our no alcohol ‘dry January’ days, all 6 of them!

We thought it was all over, but after another 6 days had passed with alcohol, I then spent another few days without drinking at all, just lots of water. I felt so much more energetic. So out of the past 18 days, I have been alcohol free for 10. In my book that is an improvement that I will continue with…

Having broken the habit I consider myself on a roll, if I can continue throughout this year to have more non drinking days than drinking ones, I’m a winner!
A 3 Month Lumity Trial.

Regular readers will know I am a huge fan of anti ageing supplements, especially those formulated to improve my hair, skin and nails and above all my energy!
However, I know enough about supplements to realize that in reality you will not see a difference in your hair or nails in only 2 weeks! You will need to take a supplement for a minimum of 6 weeks to 3 months to actually see a difference…
Therefore when Lumity invited me to partake in a review trial, I agreed providing it would be for at least 3 months. Food supplements should be taken in conjunction with a healthy diet and are not meant to replace food.
Lumity Says:
“A powerhouse blend, which is a two-step blend of high-quality omegas, minerals, vitamins and essential nutrients, this advanced formula grants infinite benefits. These include: firmer, youthful-looking skin; stronger, glossier hair and nails; boosted energy and vitality; reduced oxidative stress; immune resilience and enhanced brain function; more energy; reduced tiredness and circadian rhythm support”
I Say:
I am a firm believer that beauty starts from within. The food we eat, the amount of water (or alcohol) we consume affects our health, our energy and even how we look, from the skin on our faces to the nails on our toes. Simple!
I will update my progress in a few weeks time!
Lumity and sustainability:
Lumity is helping to produce less plastic waste by supplying their product in glass bottles and sending refills in packets. They get a big thumbs up from me so far.
