Lately The 31 days of August 2019
Lately as in during these last few weeks of Summer, no school, no packed lunches, no stress. Total freedom to do what we want when we want, no deadlines and no early morning alarms. However, August 2019 is almost at an end, as usual it flew by, lots of sunshine and more than a few showers. I was going to state it was a typical British Summer, but in hindsight I don’t think it was, some days it was roasting, in fact it was so hot we stayed in the shade sipping iced water, only later during the cool of the evening did we eat alfresco. By midday our patio was so hot you couldn’t walk on it in bare feet…

August 2019 was about…
Days out with family and friends. We stayed in Dorset and ventured West. First to Worth Matravers just past Corfe Castle, and then recently to Bridport, a small market town by the sea. We explored the vintage area, and had ginger beer at a quaint cafe…the sun shone, we wore T-shirts and sandals, and not a cardigan in site!

Hobbies Lately: Macramé and Sewing;
Crochet is a craft best hooked up during the autumn and winter months. In August 2019 I started sewing again! I made two tops and a dress and was very pleased with the results. So much so that the spare room has now been turned into my new sewing room, albeit a work in progress. Macramé is the perfect hobby to do outside, you don’t need many tools, and everything is portable. I spent many happy hours knotting away in the shaded seating area at the bottom of the garden…
August 2019 in the press with Woman’s Own
[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””] I received some lovely thought provoking private comments from women saying how pleased they are that the big M is finally being discussed in all its glory! [/perfectpullquote]
Back in March earlier this year, myself and 4 other lovely ladies filmed some promotional videos for Femal UK. Last month we were interviewed by Woman’s Own, chatting all about the menopause again. This week the magazine was published and I received some lovely comments from other women about how pleased they are that the big M is now finally being discussed.
The Dogs Lately:
The dogs? Well they just did their doggy thing, slept, ate and chased a ball around. That is when it wasnt too hot and if they could be bothered bless them…
The En-suite bathroom Renovation progressed (slightly)
The bathroom was gutted and has been rebuilt with moisture proof plaster board. We are presently waiting for the new shower tray to arrive. There is white dust everywhere, even after hoovering and dusting !
Books I read during August 2019
I read a lot more than usual. Lazy hot summer afternoons are simply made for relaxing and reading

The conscious closet by Elizabeth L Cline. Can you see where the dogs got hold of it, top right corner, they unwrapped it before I could get to it?
I enjoyed reading these four books this month:

Daisy Jones and the 6 – the most rock and roll novel of 2019, by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Wabi Sabi Wisdom. – Inspiration for an authentic life by Andrea Jacques
Beloved a classic story of slavery by Toni Morrison.
I want to Read all of these ASAP!
Especially The Testaments, the sequel to the handmaids tale (a short story she wrote in 1985) by Margaret Atwood
