On Branding I think I May Have A Label Obsession?
When I was 6 years old I carefully sellotaped library tickets into all my children’s books! They had my name on, and I even made little paper pockets for them to sit in, just like in the real ‘big girls’ Library! Occasionally I will come across these tiny tickets written by my childish hand and it makes me laugh out loud, because even today I love to brand everything. So I guess ‘if you like it then you’d better put a label on it’ right? I blame blogging for encouraging my ongoing obsession with labels and branding today!

Today it is called Branding…
Back then I was putting my stamp on my possessions, (yes I had a little library stamp too from my post office set!) In hindsight, perhaps the arrival of a new baby brother had made me ultra possessive of my toys?
Today we call it branding, to put it simply we are making our own unique style instantly recognisable to others by having consistent and recognisable content, fonts and images, aka logos and monograms.

My 2016 LDJ Logo design:
In 2016 after buying my own domain, I decided I needed a real logo. I approached a lady I very much admired for her simple but contemporary designs on insta, and she agreed to work with me.
She started from scratch and even designed the font herself and drawing it by hand! We then moved on to style and colours, I knew what I wanted, simple, clean versatile, black and white, with a hint of ‘serenity blue’ as a highlight. I also wanted the option of changing the highlight colour at anytime.

From the initial drafts (see above ) we worked out a clean and fresh logo and tag line and then it was developed into a digital graphic file. As you can see from my tag line I blogged about sewing back then too. The logo and monogram you see today is the same one we designed together 3 years ago! A good design should always be able to stand the test of time.
Where I order my Stickers and cards from:
Now the fun bit…once you have a logo and all its accessories on file, you are ready to order your stickers and cards.
Moo
You probably all know Moo for business cards and postcards? My top tip is to ask for a sample pack to see what they offer in terms of quality and choice. Having had many different cards through the years I now go for quality over quantity. I love MOO.
Sticker You.
My latest *Roll Labels were kindly gifted to me by StickerYou. They have a vast selection of products to put your shiny new logo on. They also do wall decals and temporary tatoo’s now there is a good idea! I also rather like the look of their water bottles…
