On Blogging, Glancing Back & Looking Forward To 2019

Like a lot of people I dont make new year resolutions. I do however, make goals and lists of ‘would like to achieve’ who doesn’t love a ‘to do’ list? After all nothing can be achieved without making plans. I dont like looking back and I dont do regrets, life is what it is and you can’t change the past. I still love blogging and no matter what anyone says about the future of these online spaces, I will continue to blog for as long as it makes me happy. I am looking forward to 2019, as a family we are ready for whatever it may bring. I hope you are too?

On Blogging Glancing Back & Looking Forward To 2019

I am looking forward to 2019 and as a family we are ready for whatever it may bring. I hope you are too?

A glance back at 2018 my blogging highs:

Blogging wise, nothing major happened in 2018; my blog continued to grow and I was overjoyed to welcome new readers. I was however, very proud to be nominated and shortlisted for two big awards in 2018:

  1. For a ‘Best interiors Craft blog’ from the Amara Interior Blog awards
  2. For an ‘Amazing Women 50 over 50’ award, nominated as one of Woman and Home Magazines top 5 social Influencers

Below you can see us wearing our glad rags at the brilliant Amara Interior Blog awards…I think he scrubs up rather well don’t you?

Lately 5 things we got up to in October 2018 amara blog awards

Have to admit I didn’t win any of the above but I was very proud to be shortlisted, it was a superb feeling to know that people actually read and enjoy my blog.

On Being In Woman And Home Magazine Why It Means So Much To Me

…and a low

Seeing a few people on instagram who have cheated to gain followers being rewarded with brand campaigns, whilst other people I know who are genuinely brilliant at blogging being over looked. That was a low point for me in 2018 and I hope brands get their acts together in 2019 to help stamp out the cheating.

Looking Forward to January and the rest of 2019…

I am aiming for more of the same in 2019, to enjoy writing and photography, to hopefully work with more lovely brands, to get out and about, meet new friends and basically challenge myself to step out of my comfort zone.

I’d love to share more of my beautiful Dorset with you and continue my ‘Wearing Vintage’ style series. I have lots of plans so please do sign up to my mailing list at the bottom of the page if you want to keep up with me?

Finally managed to get sme time to read this! And I’m so glad I did. I’m with you – if only one person says they liked my blog and they enjoyed reading it, then I’m going to keep on going. To touch someone is so special and if you can help them or make them happy, then that’s even better.

    Keep up the good work

I have wanted to blog for quite a while but haven’t found my mojo yet, maybe I’ll Instagram first. Either way, I have a wonderful role model in your blog. I love it. Thank you for your style tips, I have a wonderful summer bag from Laura Ashley, which I can’t wait to get out again, bought following reading your blog, and I’ve worn jumpers over summer dresses, with boots, never did that before. Please keep on doing just what you’re doing, thanks again

Ang thank you, so much for your lovely comment and inspiring words. I have taken a long break to clear my mind over the holidays and have come back with renewed inspiration and fresh ideas.
Thank you, I really appreciate hearing this.

Wishing you a great 2019, Ashley and here’s to more, and enjoyable, blogging. How fantastic about your nominations. That is so special. I have a very humble blog, not too well known and I get so frustrated at a fellow blogger from my own country who has a big following, stealing my “stuff”, for her blog, and even for a book, as it is unethical. It is indeed a low point that these things happen. I find it hard to be too philosophical about it. But I guess that we just plaster on a smile and carry on, which is my current plan.

That is a good plan, and sometimes a hard thing to do!
I have just visited your blog and was delighted to read about using your intuition.
      Happy 2019 indeed.

Loved your post Ashley. Being relatively new to blogging and Instagram there is great advice for the likes of me. I’m taking baby steps. I, like you love the photography, learning as I go, and the writing. It is very time consuming but, I am still enjoying it and that’s the main thing.
Hope you had a fab new year!

      Hi Alison
      Happy New year!
I’m so pleased you are enjoying blogging.
Yes it really does take along time. Writing and photographing a post can sometimes take me all day from start to finish, I dont think people realise what goes into it?
Good luck with your blog this year you are doing brilliantly, please do let me know if you have any questions, always happy to help out a fellow blogger!

That’s so kind and much appreciated – I must admit it’s a learning curve, especially the IT – there has been a few days when the frustration has set in I must admit!
