Lately 5 things we got up to in October 2018
I am so enjoying writing these monthly posts. There is something about reviewing the last month that puts the next month into perspective. For instance if the last month was busy, then I will make sure the coming month is more relaxed and family time becomes a priority. October 2018 was definitely a busy month, we were out and about in the UK. Indeed during 3 out of the 4 weeks we stayed overnight in a hotel! Unheard of for us stay at home oldies!

October 2018 Thing One:
A visit to HighGrove Gardens and Estate to see Prince Charles’ garden. A long planned visit, best to book in advance as you are taken on a tour of the estate gardens and only a few places are available per tour.
We drove up to Gloucestershire a surprisingly short journey from Dorset I thought it would take much longer. We stayed in a quaint village pub with an excellent reputation for good food and great decor. Our room was above the old stable block and had a huge free standing bath. luckily I had packed my fave lush bath bombs just in case. I find so many hotel rooms these days only have showers? Which is fine, but to me hotels are for relaxing in and that means long hot baths in pretty bathrooms.
On arrival we had a quick G n’T and set off for High Grove, due to security reason there are no sign posts, we were given a special map! on arrival passports are examined and car number plates registered and checked. No surprises there then because after all, this is the next King of England’s home!

We were welcomed by the tour guide and off we went. The tour took at least two hours so I would advise comfy shoes! The gardens are inspirational as are the garden structures designed by various garden designers in collaboration with prince Charles. All the proceeds from the tour and all sales from the shop and cafe go to the Princes charitable organisation.
No cameras or phones were allowed, so I dont have any pics to share, but I do have some souvenirs of a wonderful weekend away…
October 2018 Thing Two:
Woman & home Magazine ’50 Amazing women over 50′ awards night. This was an amazing evening and I have written a full report with some of the other women’s stories shared too.
October 2018 Thing Three:
The big Chop. I had a long overdue haircut, at least 4-5 inches cut off! My hair feels so much healthier and I feel a little younger. This style is more modern, very easy to handle and I wish I had it done ages ago as my hairdresser had suggested…

October 2018 Thing Four:
Lazy daisy Jones was shortlisted for an Amara Interior Blog Award! As a finalist Marc and I were invited to the glamorous awards evening held at One Marylebone, a beautiful converted church.
I didn’t win in my category, but considering all I have ever wanted to do was to be shortlisted and go to the party I think my wish came true! Blog post to follow… I met lots of lovely bloggers there too.
This was us having fun with the liberty photo booth…
October 2018 Thing Five:
A long overdue visit to the Movies with supper. Almost a Date night?
Marc took me to the cinema to see ‘A Star is Born’ with Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. As a child of the seventies I saw this at the cinema with Barbra Streisand and Chris Christopherson in the lead roles. We both enjoyed the film and yes I shed a tear at the end! However it is hard to judge the new version because I knew the story (and the ending) beforehand, no spoilers here folks.
Afterwards we both had a lovely meal at Carluccios and discussed the music from the film. I was very tempted to ask for a meringue with ice cream and cream, but sadly I was too full to order dessert…
I do hope your October was filled with fun…?
