Where do you usually shop for interior items for your home? Habitat, Ikea maybe Homebase or B&Q? Have you tried searching online at Etsy Uk? Handmade and unique, or vintage and new you may be surprised at what you find. You will also be supporting a small retailer and the chances are you won’t be seeing the same thing on everyone else’s ‘shelfie’ Win win I say!
Etsy Uk
The idea for this post came about because I am presently shopping for tiles for our ensuite bathroom refurbishment. I have decided to shop vintage as we are on a tight budget. We dont buy new unless we have to and are trying to recycle as much as we can. So where to start? Etsy Uk has been my first port of call for vintage tiles I know ebay has lots but I like to shop with etsy first…
Marc achieved a similar look using vintage tiles and bulking out with cheap plain tiles for our handmade scandi fireplace…we found 7 vintage laura Ashley tiles on ebay for pennies!

Ensuite Bathroom Plans
The large bathroom was fitted professionally. We kept it monochrome so again white tiles everywhere, with some contrast provided by some gorgeous iridescent ‘black pearl’ tiles (no longer available) from Fired Earth
Sadly the budget will not stretch to fired earth this time so vintage it will be…
For the ensuite we are using very few decorative tiles. I want a couple of plain ones to cover the window sill and some decorative ones for the sink splashback area. I found these on Etsy Uk and purchased them straight away! May I repeat myself, we hardly have any budget for this refurb, Marc will be doing everything himself! There are a lot to choose from if you have a tiny budget and a lot of imagination!

Mood board ideas:
We will be keeping it simple, bright and unique just like the rest of our house. I am choosing white (OBVS) with green and plants scattered throughout. I would like all natural materials with a touch of copper in the taps.We will be replacing the units, they are too large for this space and they are cream. The floor will be tiled and will be half tiled around the base of the walls instead of having skirting boards. Top Tip This makes the room look bigger!
Next year we plan on looking for an older property with a larger garden, so another reason not to spend too much on this last make-over.
So Far:
The tiles and skirting have been removed and it looks like this:
Dust everywhere and it’s chilly in the mornings…brrrrr
Already purchased
We have ordered a mini basin and vanity unit from Wayfair, its compact simple and a good price, Marc will adapt and add to it to suit the space…
Wish us luck!
