Lately

Lately 5 Things we got up to in September 2018

September 2018 if I had to describe it in one word that word would be ’emotional’ September always is emotional for me. A time for a new school year, birthdays and the ever changing seasons. Time is moving on, Summer is over, and winter is looming. I love Autumn I do not look forward to the dark cold days that winter brings.

My September 2018

So I won’t pretend that September was fun and laughter, although it had its moments, because it was a little bit bleugh (is that a word?) for me. As the month wore on, we all settled into out new routines, the sun came back out, and the month had a suprise happy ending…see ‘thing five’

September 2018 Thing One:

There wasn’t a thing one! I took a whole week off blogging and retired to the sofa. I wrapped myself (and the dogs) in a blanket, read all the Sunday papers, my latest magazines and caught up with a crochet project. At the same time I watched ‘Killing Eve’ from beginning to end, ate chocolate biscuits and generally hibernated. Sometimes you just have to give in and do what feels best.

September 2018 Thing Two:

I live in Dorset, so it is very expensive for me to travel to London and back for the day. It is also a 5 hour round trip and can be very tiring too. Therefore I limit my press trips to one a month, unless a lovely brand offers to pay my expenses, unfortunately I have to turn down a lot too, especially if they are in the evening.

This month both Laurie and I were invited to the Boots Christmas Event. There was so much makeup to try, some delicious macaroons and the best bit? My 17 year old boy came up too. He went shopping for some clothes and then met up with us later and agreed to take photos too… Sometimes he is an angel, I did say sometimes! He was given a lovely tin of Ted Baker bath products and even had his initials engraved on the tin!

September 2018 Thing Three:

Marc and I actually managed to fit in a few lovely early evenings spent at a couple of our local pubs. We both work hard, especially Marc, and it’s easy to forget to tell each other the little things about the daily comings and goings of our lives. I think everyone these days should make time to catch up, take time offline and perhaps even leave your phone behind… give it a try?

Marc is not very impressed with my ‘selfie’ skills, but this pic does make me smile.

September 2018 Thing Four:

This fluffy little teddy bear had an operation to repair a hernia, he’s fine but I wasn’t leaving him at the vets all day. It broke my heart. The next day he had the special treat of being allowed upstairs to sleep, in this way I could also keep an eye on him?

September 2018 Thing Five:

A big suprise for me arrived at the end of September 2018. I was notified that this little blog had been shortlisted and had reached the final stages of the Amara Interior Blog Awards! I was astonished and excited in equal measures. A big thank you to you if you voted for me. It’s the little things like this that make writing Lazy Daisy Jones so worthwhile and it means a lot to me, to be recognised in this way, so thank you once again!

Marc and I will be going up to london for the awards night so I will tell you all about it in October’s catch up…

I am very much enjoying writing these little monthly posts. At the end of the year I might print them out like a little year book for our family…
