Lately 5 Things We got up to in August 2018
August 2018 was chilled and hot, happy and hot, fun filled and HOT. If you live in the UK you know it! Parched lawns where ever you looked. The water butt in the garden dried up for the first time in 14 years and the dogs just panted all day. Haha spell check just tried to change this to painted! Imagine “it was so hot the dogs just painted all day?
Five things I/we did in August 2018
Although it was the school holidays, it was actually quite busy. The teen was recovering from the stress of taking his GCSEs so I left him to it and tried not to nag him. I think he slept through most of August 2018!
Thing 1. A weekend in Devon:
I dragged Marc away for a rest, he has been working far too hard recently. So I booked a cottage apartment with dreamy views of the sea and off we went. There was cider, fish and chips and a rugged coastline to explore. We took the dogs, walked for miles and slept like logs. Job done!

Thing 2. A Gin O’clock Cardi:
Actually 2 ‘gin O’clock Cardi’s’ to be precise. BUT I crocheted them too big and now consider them to be ‘yarny mishaps’ aka I failed. I may undo them or ‘frog’ them as they say in crochet speak?
The fronts were too narrow, so was that me? or the pattern? I had a few gins to get over my disappointment and went on my way! To be continued…
Thing 3. The Great Dorset Steam fair:
That time of the year when the harvest is in and ancient steam rollers can be seen trundling along the lanes around our house. Needless to say traffic chaos ensues. The great Dorset steam fair has come to town again. This year it celebrated 50 years.
We walked a few miles across the fields and spent a happy afternoon perusing treasures in the form of old junk and drinking somerset cider. I picked up a lovely old 1961 penguin book to add to my collection. The sun shone and all was well in my world.

Thing 4. Doggy furcuts before and after:
Shih Tzus dont shed their fur so you have to get them cut every 6-8 weeks. My two were feeling the heat so I took them to the ‘furdressers’ to get a ‘furcut’… this was the result!
Thing 5. A London press event with Vionic shoes:
At the end of August I attended an autumn winter preview fashion show hosted by Vionic Shoes. I went with Laurie from Vanity and me and we met some insta friends old and new.
I have covered this event in more detail if you fancy a peep? Needless to say I fell in love with all the boots!

A blurry phone shot…
In other news…
The teen bought a new ‘deck’ for his skateboard and I found this little pic on my phone ??
