Lately 5 Things We Did July 2018

Anyone else have fond teen memories of a fairground visit? Not the visits with your family, oh no, I mean those times with your best friends? You know, that time in your teenager life when you were just becoming aware that ‘boys’ are ok after all. Especially ‘older boys’ not the silly boys in your class at school. Do you remember that time in your life? July 2018 brought back many happy teenage memories for me because we visited a fairground again…

Thing Two: The Hair Cut:

My 16 year old decided he wanted his head shaved! The heat was getting to him (hottest July ever in the UK!) as he is a skateboarder, we agreed it made sense. Marc did it for him in the garden, they were both laughing as the hair came off…

Thing Three: The House Of Next:

I risked London transport, on one of the hottest days of the year. To attend the Next a/w 2018 press preview it was all about christmas!

Thing Four: The Potting Shed:

A happy life is all about the little things, being content with what you have, not wanting to be anywhere but where you are. I am sure you will agree with me? Finding that balance is probably the hardest thing! At the age of almost 55 I have found it.

The icing on the cake on my list of “little things” was when Marc put a shelf and a worktop up in our garden shed for me to keep my gardening equipment on. Plus hooks to hang my tools up. To say I was overjoyed was an understatement…like I said its the little things.

Thing Five: I’m crocheting a cardi for winter.

I crochet in the evening when it’s cooler. Usually whilst watching the TV (I’m so sad that this season of Poldark is over)

The name of the pattern I am making is the ‘Gin O’clock Cardi’ by Iron Lamb

So appropriate I think, because my evening summer drink of choice is a simple Gin and tonic?

I crocheted a couple of other projects in July 2018 too. I made a small bag and two stool covers for the garden. All my own patterns, I just made them up because I can!

However I am sure there are lots of similar patterns on Ravelry or Etsy?
