Spare Room Progress Report Vintage Bed & Nora Mattress

At last we are tackling the dumping ground that is our 4th bedroom. Soon to be my new dressing area plus there is room to include a guest bed. We recently picked up the most beautiful victorian bedstead from a local boot fair and had it restored. Today the bed has a brand new Nora mattress and is ready for its big reveal…

We recently picked up the most beautiful victorian bedstead from a local boot fair and had it restored.

Vintage Bed Frame

The bed frame was found at our local boot fair, it was being used to display fishing equipment!

I tentatively asked if it was for sale and how for how much. You could have knocked me down with a feather when the seller replied £25! (These single beds cost over 400 pounds in the stores and online! ) The bed was solid and undamaged but dirty and rusty.

It started out like this ( below) and ended up like this: Marc had it sandblasted and then powder coated in a bright silver…we love it what do you think? Now we just needed the right mattress, this is where Nora came in!

The Nora Mattress Details:

Nora is probably the perfect mattress. Supportive, breathable, and pressure relieving. Two base layers of high-density foam provide the perfect balance of support and pressure relief, making aching shoulders and hips a thing of the past. The middle, thermo-regulating layer is made of a gel infusion that keeps you cool all night by drawing heat away from your body and out of the mattress.

Risk Free trial:

Plus there is a 100 night risk free trial, backed by Wayfairs commitment to customer-service excellence. At the moment there is an introductory promotional price of 20% off.

Unpacking the Nora Mattress:

The box is heavy but the unpacking is so easy I did it all by myself. Opened the box, slid out the rolled up mattress, popped it on the bed and left it to breathe…

Ooh, how did you go about finding someone to sandblast and powder coat? And would you mind sharing how much it cost?
I love it when those bargains come up!

Oh I am so jelly you have a dressing room!
    Anyway moving on…
I love how you decorated this room Ashley. When I only had two babies I found a couple of Victorian cast iron beds being thrown out on the street. I had them powder coated in cream for the kids who shared a bedroom at the time. One on each side, they looked stunning. Sadly they both grew up & no longer fit into the tiny beds (Victorian kids were small right?) so I sold them on ebay.
I still think of those adorable beds today, what a bargain 😉
