Lately 5 things I got up to in May 2018

May 2018 was hard work! Here in the UK our year 11 school children, including my son, started their GCSE exams. Our home, like many others up and down the country, has been inhabited by a stressed and grumpy teen with revision on his mind. Bless him!

I am trying to make everything as easy as I can for him, but boy is he grumpy! I remember those days as if it were yesterday, dont you?

May 2018

Thing one:  A Puppy ‘Furcut’

…it was time for his first visit to the ‘Furdressers’

Our 5 month old Shih Tzu puppy was finding it hard to see through his fringe. So it was time for his first visit to the ‘Furdressers’ He wasn’t too keen on being shorn of his golden locks. Luckily the weather improved after this so I am sure he was happy to be cool. May 2018 turned out to be a very hot month!

Thing two: Me as a Cat on a Paper Plate

I took myself off to visit Anthropologie in London to help celebrate London Craft Week. The Regent Street store was buzzing. Surprisingly, I managed to escape without shopping (yes, it was terribly hard)

I did however, get to meet the artist Florence Balducci who after some discussion drew me as a cat. To say I was  delighted was an understatement. My portrait on a paper plate will be treasured for years to come!

Thing three: Another London Press day with my blogger pal Laurie.

May and June are busy months for Brands who are promoting their Autumn / Winter collections.

Laurie and I arranged to meet at Oxford Circus for a quick cuppa and a catch up chat. We then set off for a day of viewing the new collections. First we visited Task PR and viewed some lovely brands including Joules and Oui. Then it was on to Jaeger to see their fabulous A/W 2018 collection. The tailoring was superb as usual. Their new winter coats have been inspired by their archives and are very beautiful and oh so stylish!

I will write more about this as it deserves a post of its own, so watch this space…

Thing four: Our lower garden patio is progressing

Not only is it progressing but it will soon be completed. This project has been long in the planning and Marc has worked so hard on it in his precious spare time. he had to clear the whole area including taking down a very large tree! and re fencing an awkward space on a slope.

Me? Well I painted the fences and provided snacks, drinks and ‘helpful’ ideas!

Thing five. New Kitchen Shelves.

Marc made me some new industrial metal brackets, cut up some reclaimed scaffolding shelves for the kitchen and put them up for me. I told you May 2018 was busy!

It’s not quite finished but here is a very sneak peek: All will be revealed soon…

All in all May 2018 was low key, lots of fun and very very hot…shame about the GCSE’s though!
