At last, after an incredible amount of hard physical work (Marc’s not mine) our lower patio area is complete! Would you like to see the finished project?

Patio Before and After

These are the best type of pictures dont you think? I love looking at before and after images of other peoples homes.

We still need to get more plants growing, ready for next year, then it will look as pretty as the before image.

In part one of this Garden Makeover I explained about the challenges we faced just to clear the area of debris. We also had to take down a tree that had outgrown its space, our neighbour was happy but I was sad to see it go!

It is so hard to make the big decisions isn’t it? So many questions…What tiles? what colour?

Our Patio Tiles The Details:

It is so hard to make the big decisions isn’t it? The tiles, what colour or size? How many and what other materials will you need? The list is endless…

This is the stage we were at when I last wrote about our garden project:

Tile Mountain, The portico Collection

We had lots of help from our tile supplier Tile Mountain  their site is easy to use and very helpful for calculating what amount you need to fit your space.

We chose our tiles from The Portico Collection. These beautiful mid grey tiles are made from porcelain! You can use them inside and out too. They are called ‘Surface Outdoor Mid Grey Slab’

Size: 600mm x 600mm

Why we chose them.

Our lower patio area is long and narrow, if we used the smaller tiles they would make it look even smaller. We didn’t want light coloured tiles, as we have them on our larger patio and when the sun shines on them they give off a hard glaring light. By choosing the grey its softer, calmer and blends the edges which makes the area appear larger.

Being made of porcelain, they feel soft and warm underfoot no matter the weather! The dogs love them…

The accessories:

We made some tealight holders from logs, and everything else we already owned. The cushions from H & M Home, are new. H & M Home (online)  is superb place to buy cheap cushion covers. The printed ones are from H&M the other green ones are from Ikea, we bought them ages ago.

The garden shelf

I am sure you will not be suprised to hear that the shelf was handmade by marc, at my request!

I think it adds some kitschy fun. The plants are all artificial and were sourced from The Range

One More Before and After?

Oh, ok then.. if you insist!

It’s hard to imagine not having this lovely new space, we meet there after the day is done and sip our drinks and chat about life. Surely everyone needs a space like that?

This looks beautiful. And I like that it looks like a quiet cosy corner. Somewhere to escape too. You are lucky to have such a clever Marc!

Ashley the transformation is amazing!! Marc has done an INCREDIBLE job, we transformed our own garden from an overgrown mess (where we didn’t even know how long the garden was!) so I know how much work it entails. The tiles are a great choice and he’s laid them beautifully. You must be so pleased 🙂
