Helping to Clear the Oceans of Plastic Pollution with Brita
A favourite phrase of mine, that I probably overuse is ‘every little helps’. I use it when I’m nagging my family. I say things like, ‘if we all pulled our weight with putting things away, then house would stay tidier, every little helps’…
They usually roll their eyes at each other…
BRITA
In a similar manner, imagine if everyone on our planet changed the way they used single-use plastic? I know that it is not just consumers that need to change, the big manufacturing brands need to get their acts together too. Did you know that a plastic water bottle has a lifespan of 400 years?
BRITA is a brand that encourages people to swap for good…every little bit helps right?
Since 2017 BRITA has been communicating its #swapforgood message. This is BRITA’s pledge to help eradicate the use of single-use plastic bottles. They are also working in partnership with the Marine Conservation Society and supporting its plastic-free challenge in July. Thank goodness for BRITA, if only more brands would start acting the same way!
BRITA Water Filter Jug
We have a BRITA kettle, simply because it has a water filter; we live in a hard water area and I don’t like the way the water tastes.
Now we have also have a BRITA Water Filter Jug, that we keep in the fridge. The jug has a new Maxtra+ filter that uses MicroFlow technology to reduce limescale and other impurities. The water from the jug tastes amazing and so different from the tap water. Coffee tastes so much better too…
My Family’s verdict:
For the past few days we have all been trialling using the filtered jug water to refill our own bottles, instead of buying new ones. We have found it very easy, it just takes some thought.
We love how easy it is to fill the jug, you can just use your finger to flip the lid open. My son is fascinated by the little light on the lid. BRITA uses a traffic light system to indicate when the filter needs replacing.
[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]The size is good too, holding 2.4 litres. I just wish they would remember to fill it up![/perfectpullquote]
So instead of buying bottled water why not choose filtering over discarding in your family too. Refill an old bottle or buy a reusable bottle such as BRITA
Not only will you be drinking great tasting filtered water but you will also be helping to eradicate those single use plastic bottles too.
Talking about recycling, have you read the post I wrote on my new jeans that were made from recycled plastic?
