Casual Weekend Wear, More Midlife Fashion Tips

Weekend wear is basically my live in style! I now have less need of formal wear, apart from the odd family occasion, or weekend city breaks with my nearest and dearest. Even then I wear casual trousers and jackets and add in lots of dresses for summer.

Our personal style evolves with our lives, for instance I no longer have to do the ‘school run’ (well sometimes I do because even the 16 year old needs a lift occasionally)

For me this meant a wardrobe overhaul and re examining the garments I actually wear and love on a daily basis. Then shopping for more of the same?

Weekend Wear is my Best Friend.

I like to keep it simple, to be comfortable and to feel great in the clothes I wear. Not too much to ask of my wardrobe is it? Of course for me this involves jeans, lots of jeans. Frayed jeans, cropped jeans, dark blue jeans and levis. What is wrong with jeans, I am a dog owner and a country dweller, jeans are good for me. Finding your ‘thing’ is key as life changes.

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]Have fun, experiment with colour and texture whilst in the changing room. Why not take in things you wouldn’t usually wear then ask a stranger for her honest opinion![/perfectpullquote]

A Top Tip for Midlife Fashion:

My top tip is to buy clothes for your lifestyle today, dont live in the past and buy the clothes you used to wear. Did you use to work in an office and commute to work, but no longer do this? So go through your wardrobe and get rid of any suits, jackets or formal blouses that you will probably not wear again.

Have fun, experiment with colour and texture whilst in the changing room. Why not take in things you wouldn’t usually wear then ask a stranger for her honest opinion!

Buy clothes that make you happy today, in the here and now, this doesn’t mean you won’t be wearing a pretty blouse ever again, I wear lace blouses with my jeans all the time! It just means you are evolving as is your life, change is good embrace it. After All the alternative would be so much worse…

Weekend Wear in my Wardrobe

I digress, so back to weekend wear. My wardrobe is now full of clothes that suit my lifestyle, trousers and smart knits, for weekends away. Jeans, shirts and T-shirts for everyday and pretty blouses and dresses for summer in the city as well as in Dorset!

Shoes:

Shoes are a different matter…and please dont mention my shoe collection to my other half! Right now they have a room of their own!.

High Five!

I have shoes for every occasion and never keep them for best, wearing them when and wherever I can. Luckily heels with jeans is a big trend right now, so even my heels get lots of weekend wear especially for Sunday lunches. My shoes come and go, I dont hoard them, apart from one very special pair of Versace high heels, and they will stay with me forever.

Spring is the perfect time to re evaluate the contents of your wardrobe and to make sure it fits perfectly with your life, believe me it feels really good to have a sort out!
