Lem Lem Annie Sloan’s new Colour on my little Moroccan Stool

Lem Lem now isn’t that a marvellous name for Annie Sloan’s brand new paint colour? Not only that but every pot of Lem Lem sold will raise funds for Oxfam and help fight poverty for good.

The name means ‘To Flourish’ in Amharic, the language of Ethiopia.

Lem Lem The Inspiration.

A soft, warm green, inspired by fields of alliums that Annie saw in Ethiopia, grown by women farmers who are supported by Oxfam’s Ethiopian Seed Project. This project supports women farmers, teaching them business skills and therefore giving them the tools for independence. The name means ‘To Flourish’ in Amharic, the language of Ethiopia. Annie thinks the name is perfect for this new colour because it represents hope, just like Oxfam’s seend project. I have to say I entirely agree. How about you?

More information and a video of Annie’s trip plus lots of project ideas using this lovely colour can be found on the web site

You may have already seen my little wooden stool that was handmade for me in Marrakech. I decided to paint it and crochet a new cover for it, one that tones well with this pale lemon green.

I set to work and one sunny day last week, I painted 2 layers on my little stool and left it to dry outside in the garden.

Meanwhile, I set to work on my new crochet project. I used some cream linen and a gold thread and then used a double crocheted stitch to work them together.

I decided to choose a hot contrasting red and an orange for the edging. When the stool was dry I popped it on. I love it and I think the whole thing works very well! Do you approve?

Alliums.

The colour was inspired by the green of the Allium fields in Ethiopia, so I tried to make my stool look like an Allium ripe for the picking! The stool is now living in our conservatory and sits happily with all the other plants…

In actual fact, I liked the freshness of this colour so much I slapped a bit on a tin can and on some the old wooden tealight holder that I found in the garden, now as good as new both of them…

You can read about my garden table project I painted using Annie Sloan’s chalk paint back in the summer. Oh that seems like so long ago…

Bestest wishes

This paint kit was gifted to me so I could help raise awareness of this project for Oxfam, a superb participation idea by the Annie Sloan paint company.
