Orange is the new Black I have watched every episode. I laughed, cried, cringed and felt almost bereft at the end of each season. Have you seen it yet?
5 over 50:
A monthly outfit challenge for five of us ‘gals’ who are all over fifty years old. Each month, one of us takes it in turn to set a different theme. August is my turn and I chose the theme ‘Orange is the New Black
Orange is the new Black
The TV series follows Piper Chapman, a privileged New Yorker who ends up in a women’s prison after being charged as a drug runner 10 years earlier.
The Tv programme is based on Piper Kerman’s memoir ‘Orange Is The New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison’
It was the title of the programme that drew me to it in the first place. The first episode aired on July 11th 2013 (this blog was one year old back then)
This was also the year when wearing black, a fashion staple, was the topic of discussion amongst the fashion press ie. was there a colour that could replace this classic colour?
Every colour was destined to be ‘the new black’ and as we all know orange boilersuits have come to represent the prisoner, especially in America. Hence the title of the series.
As a colour lover and a fan of this American TV show I knew immediately what my style challenge for the 5 Over 50 girls would be…
“It was also a year when wearing black, a fashion staple, was the topic of discussion amongst the fashion press, was there a colour that could replace this classic colour?”
Oh my gosh it was so windy in that cornfield…
I am wearing a stripey Orla Kiely dress (old)
Jd Williams Suede block heel Sandals (soft as butter and so comfy)
Zara T-shirt dress (bought in the sale in the USA)
Vintage Basket from a local boot fair.
An Update from me…
I have some exciting new projects lined up for this Autumn so I am sad to announce that due to time constraints (as well as my actual job) this will be my last 5 Over 50 challenge. However, I know Gail who hosts this challenge, has lined up someone new to step into my shoes!
So here is a little look back at the last four months of challenges: finishing with August pics of what the other girls have been up to:
