How Katie Rushworth and Tesco helped me get my Garden Ready for Summer
Katie Rushworth is a super talented gardener and a sweetheart in real life too! Have you seen her on ITV’s Love Your Garden? You are probably wondering how I know she really is lovely?
Katie Rushworth
I know this because I spoke to her on the telephone the other day!
Of course we chatted all things garden related and she offered me some welcome advice on how to get my garden ready for Summer!
“I potter around, I weed and occasionally I throw a few packets of seed about”
As a family we live in the garden during summer, we move the inside out and dine al fresco weather permitting. I am sure you do too? I love spending time in our garden, but I am not a gardener. I dont have the time or the knowledge, I potter around, I weed and occasionally I throw a few packets of seed about. The boys mow the lawn and thats that.
Here is a rough (very rough) sketch of our garden layout:
A small squarish, garden on two levels. We inherited the design from the previous owners of the house.
I have often wished to have an expert on hand, a garden Fairy Godmother perhaps, to ask all those niggly horticultural questions. For instance, what to plant where, what grows best in our chalky, Dorset soil and what to use as an attractive surface on the lower level.
So how lucky was I too be invited to take part in a garden campaign with Katie Rushworth and Tesco? This was the reason I have been chatting to Katie on the phone!
I was prepared and had done my homework. I wrote a list of my personal gardening questions and sent some snaps of my back and front garden to Katie.
The next day a gorgeous hamper of garden goodies arrived from Tesco Everything I would need to help me prep our garden and make it summer ready!
…and not only that, there was everything my family and I could possibly want to enjoy ourselves in the garden this year…
A 20 bulb solar string of lights and a Moroccan Lantern:
I like to hang lanterns in the trees that surround our garden, it looks magical at dusk. This Tesco one is in my favourite colour for summer 2017!
Eating Al fresco is taken for granted in our home during June and July…I’m sure its the same for you too?
There are some super gardening buys on at Tesco right now! With the temp set to rise for this bank holiday what are you waiting for…
Katie’s garden advice to me…
I have been distracted by the garden goodies and I am sure you would love to know what Katie suggested for my garden? Katie noticed that our garden is lacking ‘form and function’ and the minute she mentioned this a light bulb went off in my head she was so right.
Katie commented on the only piece of ‘form’ we have in the back garden, said she liked it and that we needed more of it. Marc is pleased he trims that little cube shaped hedge every couple of weeks!
For the lower level she suggested a Mediterranean theme, so we are all set to use some pretty paving stones and some even prettier, caramel cream stone chippings…
Huge thank you to Katie Rushworth and Tesco for reigniting my love for the garden.

Right then I’m off to drink and munch my way through the photo props!
Cheers!
