TV favourites my Top 5 picks to watch now
TV favourites, I have so many now I can hardly keep up with myself!
When asked about certain programmes, I reply I don’t watch a lot of television. However, I’ve recently realized, I don’t watch television channels as such (no EastEnders or Corrie for me) I binge-watch Netflix and Amazon instead.
I like a well written story, I also like legal programmes with private investigators and lawyers, I was so disappointed when ‘The Good wife’ finished.
My TV Favourites:
At the moment, I am watching:
-
American Gods. Amazon
I also like ‘creepy, sci-fi, fantasy weird’ if you do too, you may like this one. Based on the Novel of the same name written by Neil Gaiman. A story of American immigrant history mixed in with ancient mythology and old legends. How can you not love a story when its main character is called Shadow Moon?
-
The Good fight. More 4
As mentioned above I was a huge fan of ‘The Good Wife’ starring Julianna Margulies as Alicia Florrick the lawyer who returns to work after her husband’s fidelity hit the headlines. ‘The Good Fight’ is a spin off from this series. It begins one year after and centres on Diane Lockhart Alicia’s ex-boss and mentor and how she copes with financial ruin after losing her pension. It’s great (not as good as the original) but I’m hoping it will get better. Saying that I am still riveted to my screen. If you liked the former you should watch this.
-
Designated survivor. Netflix
It is the night of the ‘State of the Union’ speech when Keifer Sutherland has to take the oath of office to become the next American president due to a terrorist attack that kills the whole of Congress and all those in line to become the next president. As with all good plots there are many twists and turns. An easy one to watch when I am crocheting.
-
The Affair. Amazon
Marc and I are enjoying this one and watching it together. We are on season 3. I think this is an old series. I believe there may even have been a UK version? (correct me if I am wrong?)
Starring Dominic West (Batman) as a Novelist who has an affair and the ripples this has on other peoples lives. There is also a murder, cleverly introduced via flash backs. The story is also told through different characters’ eyes. Fascinating as their different views tell vastly differing tales.
-
Dept. Q. BBC iPlayer.
A ‘Scandi Noir’ and a good one. A police story with English subtitles but worth watching. Three different episodes, three different chilling cold cases. If you like ‘The Killing’ or ‘The Bridge’ you will love this. Catch it while you can.
So do you like this style of Tv? Or perhaps you have some tv favourites of your own that I may enjoy too? leave me a comment I love new tv suggestions…
