How I Solved my Wedding Guest Dress Dilemma

Wedding guest outfit dilemmas. I have just had one…and solved it!

Luckily, and for once something good to be said for getting older, we are invited to fewer weddings these days. Friends our age have been married (or divorced) for years and all our kids are still teens, plus as I am from a small family so my only niece is 5 and a long way off from a wedding.

Now dont get me wrong I love a good wedding, but formal dressing really is not my style. Spending money on a dress I may only wear once is a pain in the ‘proverbial’ butt, don’t you think?

This is my answer to the age old wedding guest outfit dilemma.

This is the perfect dress from J D Williams and a snip at £65 pounds dont you think? Pure cotton in a stunning print, it has a built in petticoat, superb quality and a perfect fit (I wear a size 12)

You can catch a glimpse of the petticoat in the pic below, it was so windy that day…!

Hair

Keeping it natural and simple. Don’t even mention the ‘F’ word. Fascinators  are one of my pet hates!

Hugh apologies if you are a fan, don’t forget it’s just my opinion!

Does one go sleeveless when over 50 darling?

My only other problem was the ‘arm’ thing.  I mean those arms are going to take some work to whip them into shape, and let’s face it not going to happen soon eh? Of course I could wear a shrug, or I could get a spray tan and brave it out or I could just forget about it and enjoy myself!

Accessories

Gold, metallic and more gold!

Vintage chanel belt, bag and bracelet, plus those gold mules from J d Williams that I go on and on about see this post here…

The dressed down look.

In order to be able to wear this dress again, I needed to be able to dress it down. I added flats and a cardi and removed all the glitz. It would then look something like this, I could take it out for lunch in my favourite city of Bath! In the future I may even remove the petticoat?

My problem solved and I do so love this dress…what are you wearing to a wedding this year?

bestest wishes
