5 Over 50 May Outfit Challenge

5 over 50 is a monthly outfit challenge for 5 women over 50 and that includes me!

At the start of 2017, I decided to be a little braver and not worry so much about what other people thought of me. I started a new ‘style’ as in ‘not fashion’ Instagram account. I wanted to explore my style as a woman over 50 and share with my ‘tribe’ You can read more about my thoughts on this subject on this post

…’I decided to be a little braver and not worry so much about what other people thought of me’

It began slowly, at first I was shy about showing my face (why is that?) However, today I have a small but engaged following of almost 500. I am having fun playing on instagram and gaining confidence in my personal style, plus I have made some new friends!

5 over 50 May, the challenge.

I have been invited by Gail from the blog ‘Is this Mutton’ to take part in an outfit challenge, she is kindly hosting. I thought it was a brilliant idea and excitedly agreed to take part.

The idea is that each of us in the group (there are 5 of us over 50, hence the name) takes it in turn to suggests a theme, which we each then interpret into our own personal style.  Gail’s theme kicking off the challenge for May is …

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue.

If you are a regular reader of this blog, you probably know I work as a ‘wardrobe mistress’ and as such I can get into messy situations at work ie. make-up, glitter and dusty costume stores.  So, I rarely need to dress in formal workwear outfits. I live and die in Jeans…comfy and practical.

My interpretation for 5 over 50 May:

Something Old.

My classic Chanel Mini ‘2.55’ style bag.

Bought from the Chanel boutique in Cannes in 1989. It has travelled the world on my shoulder and like me is now looking a little jaded! I treasure and love it, so really ought to send it off for a ‘service’

Something New.

My new gold leather mules from JD Williams. They have a soft drape bow front and a stacked block heel with a padded sole. Comfy and pretty, win win!

Something Borrowed.

Don’t laugh but this t shirt belongs to my 15-year-old son!

A limited edition and now out of stock, Sadé  graphic T-sht from the much-hyped label Supreme. He gave me special permission to wear it and even remarked that I looked cool. Wow wonders will never cease.

Something Blue

My jeans of course!

This pair are my new favourites. I recently purchased from Zara’s Regent St. store.
