I have a new blind in my new home office.
A new blind, and a new home office, two things that make me feel very happy, as if Spring has finally arrived in our house! If you are a regular reader you may already know that I recently downsized my old sewing room and swapped it for a home office. There is a sneak peek here I couldn’t be happier. I still have a few things to sort and tidy and then I will reveal all…
However, my new room faces East, and as we are situated at the top of a hill, the sun in the morning is very, very bright. So bright that the old fabric blind had almost disintegrated, from the uv light!
I love light, but this was so bright, that on a recent sunny day, I took my laptop and worked downstairs, which surely defeats the whole purpose of having a home office. Plus when I am downstairs I get distracted, by crochet projects!
Before: the old Ikea fabric roller blind, note sunlight damage in bottom left pic…
My solution was to order a new wooden, venetian blind from Sunwood Blinds
…when the samples arrived I had a choice of five white wooden surfaces!
I thought I knew exactly what I wanted wooden, white and shiny. Simple huh? Oh no, when the samples arrived I had a choice of five, white wooden surfaces from which to make my selection. If glossy white is not your style there are a total of five collections to choose from.
My five sample choices:
- ‘True fine grain’ white with a rippled, textured surface.
- ‘Pure’ white with a matte surface.
- ‘True’ a bright white with a matte surface.
- ‘Gloss pure’ shiny with a gloss surface. This was the one for me!
- ‘Polar’ an ivory white with a matte finish.
Next I simply measured the inner recess of my window frame (I did not have room for the blind to hang outside the frame) and sent my order in. My new blind arrived quickly, was well packed, and included all the necessary fixings, plus simple instructions on how to put it up.
Last weekend the blind was easily and quickly, put up (not by me!)
This week I have been at work in my home office almost every morning. The new blind is fabulous, I can tilt the blinds to direct the light away from the room and my work surface, it also keeps the room at an even temperature, which will be so handy in the summer. Plus I gained at least 6 productive working hours last week and can now plan a revised ‘working at home’ timetable.
