Flo and Dot has been on my Back Story ‘Hit list’ for sometime now…
Flo and dot is colourful, fresh, unique and oh so cute, as I am sure you will agree?
1.Why the name Flo and Dot?
The name Flo and Dot comes from my grandmothers, Florence and Dorothy. Both were born in Norfolk like me. A generation of makers, they could always be found with needles or hook in hand, knitting, crocheting or sewing.
2. How did you learn to crochet?
I was taught to crochet at a young age by my mum and her mum. I have always dabbled in crafts, but a few years ago I became hooked on crochet once more and haven’t looked back since.

3. Who or what inspires you?
Anything and everything, I’m inspired by my surroundings, by nature, by modern life. I love vintage patterns, from delicate doilies to quirky homewares and retro clothing. At the moment, I have a bit of a thing for cacti!

4. How do you juggle life and creativity?
I work fulltime in finance so it can involve a lot of juggling. I crochet to relieve stress, a little bit of me time at the end of a busy day, a chance to be creative. It’s sometimes soothing to work on a long-term project like a blanket or if I want a quick fun project then it’s amigurumi.

5. What are your plans for ‘flo and dot’ in 2017?
I have a few new designs coming up, some exciting collaborations and I also hope to spend much more of my time making items and writing up patterns for my Etsy shop.

I would love to know if you have any suggestions for future Back Story interviews? It doesn’t have to be crochet! So let me know in the comments if there is any one you particularly admire and want to know more about, and I will do my best to publish it for you!
