I have 5 projects on the go for January. Four on my hook and one on two needles, yes needles! I have been trying to knit.
Would you like to see my 5 projects?
1.Little star sequin lace shawl.
This is my newest project. I found the yarn on sale and snapped it up immediately. I have worked with it before and the end result is extraordinarily pretty.
Pattern: from Laura Strutt’s superb book ‘Modern crochet shawls and wraps’ I reviewed this book last year.
Yarn: King Cole galaxy, Dk weight, in Lilac and grey. A lovely yarn with sequins threaded through it.
Hook: I am using a size 5 because I want it light and airy.
2. Crochet Cowl, Cosy Collar.
This pattern was inspired by the ‘v stitch’ cowl from Inside Crochet issue 84. I have added a border, plus a few other alterations and even though still a work in progress, I am happy with the result. I intend to blog it later, with full instructions on how I altered it.
Basic cowl pattern: Inside crochet issue 84.
Yarn; super chunky King Cole Value
Hook: a chunky size 8
3. Tri-colour blanket with hexis, triangles and circles. (I need a name for this one)
You may have seen this on my Instagram lately? The pattern is a vintage, from an old book. However, I have considerably reworked this pattern. By adding a third colour and more rows, I have changed the circular triangles into hexagons. (does that make sense?)
When I have sorted out the workings of the colour order. I will publish on my blog as a CAL. Would you like that?
At the moment I am experimenting by using three colours of scrap stylecraft dk and a size 4 hook.
4. Secret commission in super chunky yarn!
You will see this one very soon on my Instagram account. I have been commissioned to make this one for an advertising campaign. Its a very large version of something I love to make.
5. Wool and the gang Knitted ‘Its a Wrap’ scarf’
I am so slow at knitting, if this had been a crochet project it would have been finished in 24 hours! perhaps that is why I am not a natural knitter? This yarn is sublimely soft and the pattern basic, easy and lots of fun. All this treasure comes as a kit for £43 inc knitting needles, full instructions, black, gold and cream yarn, plus a cute sticker! See Wool and the gang’s site for more info. lots of their yummy yarn is on sale too.
I have to admit the actual project is at work, I have secretly been getting help.
I will reveal all soon, you wont believe who has ended up knitting most of this project?
I do have a couple more to show you but I did not want to bore you, I think 5 projects are enough for now, am I right?
sending my very best wishes
