Lazy Daisy Jones

Interiors Our home

A Sneak Preview of my New Home Office

A home office, what does the word conjure up for you? Boring shelves stuffed with files and reports? or perhaps a desk filled with tech, under which resides a nightmare tangle of flex and old cardboard boxes labeled ‘to be sorted’  If that is your idea of a home office then you may be in for a suprise when you see mine!

If that is your idea of a home office then you may be in for a suprise…

My idea of a personal office is a room that reflects the character of its user. A cosy room that you want to spend time in, a room that inspires you to into action. A room of your own, or as Virginia Woolf superby wrote, explaining that for a women to succeed,

“a woman must have money and a room of her own…” Virginia Woolf

I have just adopted the small room as my office. I recently moved out of my larger sewing room that my teen son will soon move into. His old medium size room will become the new guest room. Therefore all the upstairs rooms apart from the master bedroom have been swapped around and having make-overs.

I am an avid collector of magazines, I have been all my life. Amongst others I have a collection of Vogue magazines dating from the 80’s to the early 2000’s. They have been stored in the attic for the last eight years. This year I decided I wanted them on display, so when we were kindly given some vintage newsagents shelves, I silently rejoiced, knowing just what would be going on them, my Vogues!

I also wanted botanical greenery lots of it. I presently have eight little plants keeping me company in my new room.

Storage will be essential as this is a smaller room than my last one. Therefore I need to utilize all available space, including the walls. A couple of pegboards have been recycled from my old room and have come in very handy.

I have also commissioned a new large piece of equipment from Marc (he made for me) It is being powder coated as I type this and  will be ready next week, I am very excited.

So just a little peep for now, more later I promise. Tell me what do you think of it so far?

I am still looking for a blind, a rug so any tips on where to look for these will be appreciated. The art work needs to be hung and some new lights are currently a work in progress. Watch this space!

I always appreciate a share!
