5 Fun Facts About My Crochet Hooks!
Crochet hooks are scattered all over our house. I have a few in my handbag, two on my bedside table and I recently found one in the dishwasher! Surely I am not alone in this habit, am I?
I do endeavor to keep them all stored and organised in a convenient manner, my problem (actually I dont really consider it a problem) is that I have so many. Can you ever have too many crochet hooks?
I used to buy and collect vintage sewing baskets at boot fairs and very often they would be filled with not just sewing paraphernalia, but also with old knitting needles and crochet hooks.
I have a gorgeous vintage, wooden box handbag, that hangs on my pegboard in my sewing room. It came from America, inside are crochet hooks for ‘upstairs’ use.
I favour recycling large glass jars for hook storage, so easy to see what you have, sometimes I crochet them little jackets…a fab way to test out a new stitch don’t you think?
I dont need to buy anymore hooks, I have plenty. Occasionally just to keep up with all the new hooks on the market I browse through all the different types of hooks that are in stock at Deramores Have you seen those ‘interchangeable’ ones with removable heads?
So why is it that when you lose the hook you are working with, you can never ever lay your hands on another one in the same size quickly enough? I think it is a crocheters conundrum!

Fact no. 1:
My favourite size hook is a number 4mm, closely followed by a 3.5mm
Fact no. 2:
My favourite make of hooks are the Susan Bates bamboo handles. I find them light and comfortable. I keep these close to hand at all times.
Fact no. 3:
I keep an emergency hook in the glove compartment of my car, and one in my handbag.
Fact no. 4:
My most treasured hook has teeny tiny puppy teeth marks on the handle. Our Shih tzu puppy used to steal it. He is now 5 years old and would not dare try the same trick today. However I would be extremely upset if I lost that one.
Fact no. 5:
My car once came back from the car washers with a chunky 9mm crochet hook sitting on the front seat. I had mislaid it about a year ago! Hoorah for those nice car wash men.
