This year my crochet life has gradually changed from a hobby into a lifestyle. It was a slow change and although I would not label myself a designer, I do have a few designs in the pipeline, one of which is a design commission. Commissions lead to deadlines and whilst I am enjoying this change, it does leave very little time to crochet purely for pleasure.
My Crochet Life Recently
You all know that moment, the one when you receive the latest issue of your favourite crochet magazine and a project literally jumps off the page at you, a project that you cannot wait to start. Crochet excitement at its best? yes I think so!
Last week I was determined to squeeze in some time to indulge my urge to crochet. Purely for my own pleasure…
Coachella Cardi:
This is my latest work in progress. I have completed the back piece of this project and am yet to start the front. pattern is from the latest issue of Inside Crochet magazine, issue 80.
Coachella for those of you who may not know, is a festival in California a bit like Glastonbury but much newer and smaller. It is a very fashionable festival and has spawned a ‘relaxed retro 70’s’ style of dressing.
This projects consisits of a few simple but large, 12 row granny squares, joined together with dc. to make up a long cardi.
I will be changing my version adding and taking away a few bits here and there. As you can see I have already changed the colours, because I am using up all my blue scraps. I will keep you informed of my progress.
So would you wear a granny square blanket? Don’t laugh, just wait until its finished you might change your mind!
Thank you and best wishes
