Having failed miserably at last years Janie Crowfoot’s Lilly pond CAL. I am soldiering along with this years Fridas Flowers! As you probably know a crochet along, is when only a part of the pattern is released at a time (in this case every two weeks)
Fridas Flowers Crochet Blanket
Why CALs are so enjoyable
- knowing the deadlines helps with finishing each stage.
- You find yourself looking forward to the next pattern release.
- there is always a FB group for support and questions in case you get stuck.
I am extremely organised this time, even down to keeping the pattern tidy by inserting it into a plastic display folder…get me?
Having completed part one of fridas flowers and working through part two, part three is released next week! I have even managed to join a couple of motifs…
Part One Fridas Flowers finished:
The pattern slowly gets more complicated with every release. For part two it was a joy to move onto the new colour palette, ivory and green and a denim blue ( I am using stylecraft dk lite) not the cotton as most people are. Hook size used are a 3,5mm and a 4mm for edging. So enjoying it so far, but can’t wait to get onto those flowers!
Anyone else participating in a CAL at the moment, I have my eye on another blanket one, Crochet Now magazine is starting a beautiful CAL with an exclusive Janie Crowfoot pattern in Issue Two I can’t wait…
Update I still haven’t finished the edging or the sewing in of all those ends, and its been a year already! I started off so well, oh dear, maybe this will be one to revive during a frosty winters day?
You can see more of my CAL progress in this post..I made the frida’s flowers bag to keep this project in it came out huge!
