Do you remember at the end of last year I mentioned I had some big news? Well this is it! I am super proud and very excited to announce that I designed a pattern for Simplicity patterns!
Simplicity 8087. Can you believe it? It has taken awhile for it to sink in…
A few background details:
I designed this in July 2015. My Mum was visiting from the US, and was having an extended stay because she had fallen and fractured her pelvis! (she is fine now thank goodness)
It was very hot and I was busy sewing and crocheting and photographing it all. I needed something cool to wear. It had to be a simple sew, with short sleeves, it needed more than two pockets, one for my phone, one for my notebook, one for my hook and yarn etc etc… (I had taken to wearing an apron just for the extra pockets) Eureka! a garment was born…
Simplicity 8087:
So here it is, a simple ‘A’ line dress, or tunic, and one for your daughter or niece too? Raglan sleeves, (very easy) and they give a flattering shoulder coverage too. No zip it pulls over your head, optional tie belt and oh so many fabric choices to play around with!
How about, chambray denim and liberty prints plus a crochet lace edging?
My Sewing Plans for Simplicity 8087 aka My pattern!
I plan on making it in denim and printed denim, the minute I get my hands on that precious little packet. There may also be a few tears of happiness shed too…my Mum said my Nan would be so proud and would be running around telling all her neighbours. I so wish she could have been here with me to share the news, but sadly she passed a few years ago!
A sew along?
I plan a sew-along for anyone who would be interested? (That is as soon as the weather is a little warmer) This way I can help you with any details or queries etc.
I am also booking a few all-day work shops, you know the sort with cake and a cuppa included. I have one ‘up north’ planned too ( my mate Gilly makes is being an angel and organising it all for me) So as soon as I have some fixed dates and places I will let you know.
At the moment the pattern is only available in the states from Simplicity patterns and stockists, but I have been told it will be out here very ‘soon’
But you know what? I still am finding it so hard to believe that I actually did that, it really is a case of pinching myself!
So what do you think?
Bestest wishes
