Bedroom decorating has been in the ‘air’ for over a year. It is going to happen and most probably soon!
The hardest part is…
deciding what we want. It has to include something handmade and something old. I want the whole room to be a calm but cosy refuge. Something it is most definitely not right now!
My top tip for decorating is never ever rush it. When you have just moved into a new house its very tempting to do everything at once, don’t!
Study the light, how does it make the room feel? light and bright or dark and stuffy? Our bedroom is light and bright which can sometimes mean the opposite of cosy?
We are starting from the beginning by slowly emptying and decluttering the room. Our ‘super kingsize’ bed has gone. We are presently in the process of designing a headboard for our smaller kingsize bed. Marc will make it and I will keep you updated
Inspiration
It all starts with inspiration. Something catches your eye, you have an idea, you see something on the internet, another spark of imagination strikes. Notebooks appear, one for colour, one for ideas, perhaps even one to be used as a scrapbook. The old fashioned type of scrapbook, where you glue things in, do you remember those?
Books are good for this and I have a large collection of interior style books to inspire me.

Pinterest
I have been slow to use Pinterest for inspiration, I didn’t quite get it. Now I think I do? Its heavenly you can search colours, ideas and make up an online scrapbook. Private boards are secret boards, you don’t have to show the whole world your ideas.
