Learning to knit with Wool & the Gang at Etsy Hq
Would you like to hear about my visit to Etsy HQ ? First a little back story . . . Technical disaster struck me halfway through November. I dropped my phone and smashed the screen. It was sent to be repaired, but I was without it for 3 whole weeks! At first it was fine, I felt more productive. Gradually I began to miss
Instagram, and checking my emails on the run, those missed photo opportunities, note-taking, all my appointment’s are on my phone. Not to mention texting, even just to say to loved ones ‘I’m leaving now expect me in half an hour’ The worst consequence of this breakage, was that I had a couple of exciting blogging events to attend and record, Blogging for me is all about sharing and being sociable, however it is impossible to do either of these without a phone. Take heed remember to back everything up! One of those events I had been invited to, was a ‘Wool and the Gang’ get together, hosted by Etsy in London at Etsy HQ
Wool & The Gang At Etsy HQ.
So what can I tell you about ‘Wool and the Gang’ that you don’t already know?
That they are uber cool? They are ethical? That they believe in unique, sustainable fashion made by hand and that they are passionate about community? That they sell yarn? oooh & the yarn is too die for.
We were there to knit a ‘lil Foxy Roxy’ scarf it will be chunky and oh so soft like a little pillow of fluffy clouds! Not only that but there were cakes and snacks and fizzy sparkly drinks…and beautiful rosewood knitting needles…
There was only one problem . . .I cannot Knit!
I was raring to get started but there was one huge problem I really can’t knit! Luckily Emily was on hand to teach anyone who needed help. Emily can knit without looking, yep she’s that good!
Meet The Etsy HQ Gang
There were some lovely friendly bloggers there too, here we all are with our ‘lil foxy roxy’s’ at the end of the evening…
I knitted a scarf!
After all that knitting and lots of nattering I managed to produce my own ‘lil foxy roxy scarf’ so proud! Plus thanks to Emily with my new found skills I was able to finish it on the train home, and it kept me cosy and warm for the rest of my journey.
Etsy HQ is craftily Stylish.
As you will probably expect Etsy’s UK head offices are gorgeous. An airy, colourful, creative, inspiring and above all friendly workplace. I am chuffed to say that a lot of the decor reminded me of our house, particularly the galvanised metal and all the up cycled and retro furniture, no wonder I felt so at home.
Big thank you to Wool and the Gang and all at Etsy Hq for a superb evening from
PS now making my second scarf cos I am a Knitter now you know?!
