When I started my ‘Man Sew’ monthly challenge for 2015, I vowed only to make things that Marc actually needed. It is very easy to get caught up in the fervour surrounding a new pattern release or
the trend of a new fabric or a certain colour. The result is you end up sewing something that is not really needed and only worn for the ‘photo shoot’ I will admit to having ‘been there, seen it done it’ have you?
Mr November treated himself to a very handsome new Boden waxy jacket this month. He then proclaimed the only thing he needed was a scarf to wear with it to keep his neck warm. He already had the beanie from Mr October’s Man Sew.
Cosywool
As is very often the case with blogging serendipity takes over: I was contacted and invited to make something for winter using Cosywool‘s range of yarn.
The fab thing about Cosywool is they send the yarn to you in an envelope that is vacum packed!
This means it fits through the letter box every time. Dont worry it immediately puffs up to its original size the minute you open the packet
So I had my yarn and I knew what I wanted to make. I decided to make up the pattern myself.
The result: I hooked up a preppy style scarf in Autumnal colours inspired by the falling leaves!
I used a size 9mm hook with stylecraft special chunky Why? because it is soft and hooks up a like a dream. I chose dark brown, and camel from Cosywool as my main colours then added in a spicy colour from my own stash…
We both decided a border would be too femine and how can you not have tassels on a scarf?
You know how I love a good tassel edging!
I had great fun trimming the tassel edges too, so very satisfying…
My biggest problem was locating him and the scarf, in order to take some pics for you. He has been wearing it all the time! I call that another successful ‘man make’ sewn or otherwise.
I cannot believe that we have almost come to the end of a year of man sews, a whole year, where ever did it go?
Until December then and oh boy do I have a good one for you!
Until then bestest from Marc and I
