I noticed that we all, without exception, attach emotion to our handmade crocheted blankets.
We never forget the first one we hooked up. Mine was the rainbow one in the top image.
They are made with tenderness and gifted with love. Received with gratitude and treasured for ever.
Crochet Blankets babies were wrapped in them, university students took them with them when leaving the nest. We inherited them and treasured the old ones, especially from our childhood.
I crocheted a blanket for one of my adored pets, he slept with it for all of his life. When he died I buried him in it.
My Mum told me I had a crochet blanket as a comforter when I was very young, I called it ‘cuggy’
