New look pattern 6035 came free with issue 75 of Sew magazine. I rather fancied sewing up the sleeveless top view c… The beauty of this top is that it simply pulls over your head, no buttons or zips…I sewed my first version and wore it to London on a day trip to the theatre (Miss Saigon if you must know!) well it was so comfy and cool I made another.
This time I did not have enough fabric so I added a contrast panel, a happy accident that luckily worked out fine in the end.
I sewed them both a couple of weeks ago and finally got around to booking an afternoon walk with my talented other half (plus the pooch) and we were able to snap a few pics once it stopped raining.
The first version I religiously stuck to the pattern instructions and used a pretty printed ‘libertyesque’ cotton lawn.
For the second version I used a gorgeous emerald green, shot through with yellow, fabric from Butterfly Bright. I contrasted this with a cheerful print from Lewis and Irene, I so love their prints, don’t you? I added a bias binding trim in the same fabric to finish…
I’m presently sewing a By Hand London Victoria Blazer in a ponte di roma knit fabric,to be revealed soon.
Sew what are you up to these days? (tee hee)
