Sewing Fifi by Tilly and the Buttons
I sewed a Fifi last week.
Who or what is Fifi? do I hear you ask? well…
Fifi along with Bettine is a new pattern from Tilly and the buttons She could be worn as lingerie or as a nightdress set on a hot summer evening or you could make a pretty vest top out of her maybe in jersey fabric.
Fifi’s top is cut on the bias, has pleating and bias binding. Tilly as usual, explains it all very clearly, with easy to follow instructions and delightful images of each procedure.
Being a small garment it doesn’t take long to sew either. I sewed it over two short evening sessions.
I did change my mind half way through…I had attached a satin ribbon as a trim, but it really did not work so I patiently unpicked it all and reworked it in a self fabric bias binding! I also added a little extra ‘ooh lala’ in the form of a cream broiderie anglaise trim…
I have to say I am very pleased with it and so is the talented other half !
In fact I have never seen him so interested in a sewing project before, he was even keen to see it finished and modeled, I had to explain that I would not be modeling it ‘in real life’ because it would scare people!
Did you notice my colour coordinated pegs? I had to tip out the peg basket to find exactly the right shade…
I do it with the washing too (shhhhhh)
