Create Interiors Sewing

DIY pegboard cross stitch picture.

Yarn and pegboards two things I enjoy looking at and playing with. Thanks to the other ‘talented other half’ I have two bespoke pegboards in my sewing room. I now wonder how I stored all my ‘useful bits’ before he made them. Here is an idea for you to try,  combining both yarn and pegboard…

This is not my own idea a lot of inspiration came from my Pinterest searches, but it is my design. I sat for ages with my squared paper working out where the stitches would look best. If you want to have a go, this is what you will need.

Work out your design on squared paper, mine is very rough, I kept changing my mind…

When you are happy with your design, transfer it to the board using very light pencil marks, you can just about see mine below…

Select your first colour and double thread your needle. I used a double knit yarn (stylcraft special)
I tied a large double knot to stop it coming back through and unraveling .

Some Handy Tips:
Try not to let the threads twist it looks messy and uneven.
Stitch all first diagonals of the row then go back and cross over them, its easier and neater than sewing a whole cross.
Secure at the back by weaving through another stitch.

It doesn’t take long and is surprisingly satisfying to stand back and view the finished picture..

It might be a good project for children, you could use a plastic needle and a piece of card?

Will you give it a go? You are welcome to use my design if you like.

BIG PS!
You maybe wondering what the ”vote now” badge is at the top of my side bar?
I have been nominated for an Amara Interior Design Blog Award in the ‘diy and craft category’ The top five in this category will go through to a final shortlist and go to the awards evening.
I will post about it and explain more soon. But if you feel like supporting me with a vote right now then please go ahead and make my day! (don’t forget to share on your social media sites too)
I am up against some huge blogs with huge followings, so I don’t really hold out much hope, but it is nice to be nominated so I will try!

The link to my voting page is here too

fingers crossed eh? Daisy xxx

I always appreciate a share!
