Sewing for men: Mr July, Burda 7230 and Girl Charlee Fabrics
I bet you thought I had forgotten about Mr July didn’t you? Well here he is, checking in as the last of July’s sunshine is setting on the horizon…
You see I changed my fabric choice at the last minute. I had planned on sewing lounge wear ie track suit bottoms ‘trackies’ shorts, anything that could be worn around the house that is comfortable and cool.
The Pattern is Burda 7230. I am finding Burda patterns have the best choice for men. I planned on using navy blue sweatshirt type knit jersey fabric.
Then I was contacted by Girl Charlee Fabrics and changed my mind!
Have you seen selection of knit fabrics? If you sew you will understand… my little brain was dazzled and delighted, so I chose a black and white* aztec printed french terry and set to work…
I used my overlocker for all seams, its a fast and very easy pattern and I liked the instructions too.
The fabric is soft and drapes very well. Elastic is used for the waist band and then a tie cord is threaded through too. True to size, I think you could cut the hems any length you wanted. The pattern includes a womens version too, think i may give it a go later?
Mr July is hoping for sun at the weekend. My Mum is visiting us all the way from Florida. So come on out to play Mr Sunshine pleeeese.
I love this picture and just had to include it, my Mum has just handed him a beer…look at that smile. No wonder!…. he has new shorts and the mother-in-law is giving him beer!
The laughter alerted the dog, who ran out to see what the fuss was about…
I will leave you with a pretty view of the ‘rear’ ……!
So what do you think of Mr July? I like him a lot….
