February man sew: inspiration and preparation.
I cannot believe how fast January passed by.
Was it fast for you too?
January and February are my least favourite months of the year, usually dank, grey, cold and dreary.
At least February is a short month.
Which means I will have to get a move on with my February ‘man sew’ plans….
This month we have been inspired by the great outdoors, We have been cycling with the dog, he runs we cycle! when he gets tired I pop him in my basket…this is a picture from last year..
At this time of year, cycling means wrapping up in warm layers.
Layering is great, as you heat up you can peel off clothes and vice versa.
So I began to think about a layer for my man that could be peeled off to keep him cool when cycling and put back on making him appear even cooler when stopping at the pub for a bite
I began researching suitable patterns but they were all very predictable. A fellow sewist on instagram pointed me in the direction of Thread Theory
and I quote….
“Thread Theory Designs Inc. is run by Morgan and Matt from their humble abode on Vancouver Island, BC, Canada. Thread Theory is a menswear sewing pattern company that strives to provide sewers with inspiring designs, accurate patterns, and easy to follow instructions for their menswear sewing projects.”
Hallelujah!
I have hit the jackpot and found my holy grail for this challenge, a company that specialises in very desirable sewing patterns for men.
I will be sewing the Finlayson sweater for him and get this it is part of the ‘outdoors’ collection
perfect.

So far I have downloaded the pdf and asked ‘toh’ to print it for me (40 pages) as this pattern is only available as a pdf.
At the weekend I bought the fabric and washed and ironed it…I am using a sweatshirt fabric: a medium weight cotton jersey stretch knit.
I am almost ready to sew.
What is on your sewing table this week?
