First ‘Man sew’ of 2015: preparation and inspiration inc. Pantone colour of the year.
The First ‘Man Sew’ of 2015 has started!
In this post HERE I explain a little more of how this project came into being and my reasons for attempting some man sewing …
Our Choice, View 3
After a discussion with my ‘talented other half’ and a review of his wardrobe, I decided to sew a vintage pattern from my collection…
Colour Choices:
Did you know Pantone select a colour of the year every year. Last year is was ‘Radiant orchid’ or Lilac I posted about it HERE, the year before that it was Emerald.
This year it is Marsala, yes just like the wine..and I quote
“Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness.”
Here are the tones and textures showcased with food and textiles…

Fabrics and details:
I already knew what fabric I would be using: a heavy cotton knit with a warm fleecy feel to the reverse. In the colour of black, practical and macho.
However I wanted to update it and add a little fun too.
Therefore, I decided to incorporate a little colour of the year.
I am adding some crushed velvet in ‘Marsala’ Pantone’s colour of the year as a highlighted trim!
Ok then, now you know what to expect I had better get on with it….!
We are planning a photo shoot too…I think he is a tad excited but he will never admit it?
