A Winter Coat ,sewing plans inspired by the highstreet.
This year I am determined to make a winter coat, I wanted to sew one last year,
I even found some fabric, then went off it after I had bought it! Now I simply must use it to make a coat.
I have an idea of the coat shape I want: easy, slightly oversized fit, lapel collar, bracelet length sleeves. Three buttons and two pockets.
Just like this then:
These are my top three inspirations, they are all from Toast
Toast Sanna Coat £295
But do you see those numbers?
I really do not want to spend that much on a coat right now!
I have come up with a solution that will make the fabric (that I am still not sure of) wearable. I am going to make a skirt to match the coat!
I found this pattern: and I will make the long version with a skirt too….
The fabric is unusual, made from a boiled wool. It feels like a very thick felt, lightweight but warm.
I will line it in a bright satin : probably to match the teal or the pink?
So what do you think?…… a shiny satin lining, in bright pink or bright teal?
I need help choosing!
Actually its very hot in Dorset today….so I cant even think about sewing with this warm fabric right now…maybe next week!
