Daisy’s dress. Vintage 1967 Simplicity pattern 6965
Do you remember the post about the crochet collar that I made to go with a dress that I had not yet sewn?
(Gets a bit complicated)
Well I have made the dress that goes with the collar, but the collar does not ‘go’ with the dress.
The dress is very fine all by itself. Back to the collar and dress ‘drawing board’ I go.
Meanwhile here is a post about the story of that dress…..
Simply select a vintage pattern from your vast collection:
I chose Simplicity 6995, dated 1967! 4/6 shillings and pence !
Buy a simple pure cotton fabric with a pretty print, this was on sale and 2m cost me a mere £9.98 .
I already had the zip, and I made my own bias binding.
Cheap as chips!
I liked this pattern because it has teeny tiny sleeves that just cover up the baggy bits on my arms.
A perfect sleeve length for summer too…
See perfect ‘arm cover’ for us women of a certain age…..Oooooo I’m getting so brave showing you all this…?
Now after all that sewing in the heat and humidity of the evening….
…you will need a willing accomplice to take you out for a much needed glass of something chilled, and to photograph you wearing the freshly made dress…
The one I found was constantly distracted by his own shoes and shadow, oh men what simple creatures they are!
Back to the job in hand please!
he zoomed in when I requested it…
…and generally settled down to some good work,
I like this one below…
But…
occasionally he needed reminding….ha!
(Actually that is my fave image out of all them. How bossy can you get?)
I window shopped…
and posed…oh lala!
…all in all we had a jolly good time, we laughed a lot.
I must do this again….its not so bad to show your face especially when you can hide behind a pair of sunnies!
and now you can see why I did not add the collar, it really did not need it, what do you think?
until next time….
bestest
PS. here is one that almost hit the ‘cutting room floor’ …
I got excited when I spotted an old singer in the window …tra la la sew sew sewing…
