Hello to everyone on the blog hop today!
I have been invited by the ever industrious and very creative Jo from 3 stories high to entertain you for awhile…..then I will send you on your way to your next blog hop.
ok then questions….
What am I working on?
(ha ha ha…. Ahem) it would be easier to tell you what I am not working on!!
Today I am working on ‘stuff’ at home, as opposed to making costumes at work.
Did you know I am a Wardrobe Mistress?
I don’t work in a theatre. I am the resident wardrobe Mistress for a wonderful, private (as in very posh) boys school. I have a costume store and everything!!
I costume all the plays and have a marvelous time making them either at home or work.
You see I can actually sew.
I rarely show you what I make at work, and I don’t write about it because it involves other peoples private lives, very often they are ‘famous’ other lives.
Now you know why I love my job so much.
I do however count all my blessings at having such a fabulous job.
I am telling you this as a way of explaining what I am working on. When people know what I do they very often ask me to make things for them, if I am not working on a play and therefore not busy I usually do.
So finally this is what I am working on, any guesses as to what it is?
An Elsa and an Anna dress from the disney Film “Frozen”
No patterns used but I did have to watch the film for research purposes of course!
I am enjoying this one a lot! It will be finished today!
It is for a little girls 7th birthday next week
How does My work differ from others in this genre?
I don’t think it differs at all, we are all sewers, crocheters and recyclers.
Then in our own way. we all collect things, photograph things and blog about it.
We inspire each other don’t we?
I just love to sew and sew, sometimes I worry about my blog becoming a place that just shouts “look what I made!!”
I dont want it to appear like that at all, I want to inspire as I in turn am inspired by you all.
I don’t show or write about personal stuff, but I write what I want when I want.
Why do I create what I do?
Because I have to, because I could not live a happy fulfilled life without creating.
There have been times in my life when I have quashed or ignored that side of my nature.
It did not work.
I have a room of my own, it is like a part of my soul.
When people walk into my room, they are fascinated by it , they smile and wonder at it, especially other creatives.
Not because it is especially beautiful but because it is all me…my loves my colours my things.
It is a special space….. it helps me create what i do.
How does my creative process work?
It starts with a ‘seed’ (we all call them that at home.)
I may be driving ,sleeping or walking along the road and a suddenly I feel a ‘seed’ a teeny eureka like feeling.
I leave the seed alone for awhile and all by itself it will germinate into something else at which point I will announce to the world and my talented other half, that i have an ‘IDEA’
(this is my 12 yr olds hamster)
Next I will usually grab a notebook and try to put my vision on paper adding colours details and possibilities.
If it is a ‘team’ job I will ask the toh about ‘technical stuff’
we will discuss the pro’s and cons…. usually hey presto a couple of weeks later a project has been born.
If its sewing or crochet it just has to be started at once, there is no hanging around.
There is no hoovering or ironing either!!
Sometimes I may blog a project and sometimes I forget until later.
Okay thats enough you must be bored by now?
Not like me to be so wordy…..
I want to tell you about a three special blogs and people I adore.
