A little while ago whilst browsing instagram I noticed a friend had bought a new sewing magazine, intrigued I asked her about it.
She recommended it to me and added that if you subscribe you received the Tilly and the buttons book “love at first stitch” free.
Win win, I subscribed. (of course I did!)
A few days ago the postie delivered issue 2 of Love sewing Magazine
Guess what? I do love it.
Bestest of all is the free pattern by ‘Simple Sew’ it is the Lottie Blouse and skirt.
I started the blouse immediately.
I even kept to the nautical theme of the one shown in the mag…… I do love a nice yacht don’t you?
Easy to cut out, easy to sew…here it is half complete…
…..I changed a couple of things,
I applied the neck binding in two parts, not all in one as suggested.
I changed the method of finishing the hem and sleeves, because I had cut out my own bias binding and had plenty left over.
Therefore I used it up by binding the hem of the blouse and the sleeves.
Its a neater finish, but fiddly to do.
Lastly I applied the neck tie as if sewing on a collar, it hides the messy bits and is far more comfortable to wear with no hem sticking out.
Sew here it is…..
Pussy cat bow….
Ahoy there captain!
Thank you Love sewing magazine and Sew Simple a great collaboration
