Lottie Blouse and a new to Me Magazine.
A little while ago whilst browsing Instagram I noticed a friend had bought a new sewing magazine, intrigued I asked her about it. She recommended it to me and added that if you subscribe you received the Tilly and the buttons book “love at first stitch” free. Win win, I subscribed (of course I did!) It included a simple looking pretty pattern that caught my eye. The Lottie Blouse by Simple Sew. I especially loved the pussy bow tie neck, and resolved to make a bigger bow for my version. I found the perfect fabric too, Printed yachts on a beautiful blue background.

A few days ago the postie delivered issue 2 of Love sewing Magazine. Guess what? I do love it. Best of all is the free pattern by ‘Simple Sew’ it is the Lottie Blouse and skirt.
I started sewing the Lottie Blouse immediately.
I even kept to the nautical theme of the one shown in the magazine. Who doesn’t love a nice yacht print?

Easy to cut out, easy to sew…here it is half complete…
I changed a couple of things, I applied the neck binding in two parts, not all in one as suggested.
I changed the method of finishing the hem and sleeves, because I had cut out my own bias binding and had plenty left over. Therefore I used it up by binding the hem of the blouse and the sleeves. Its a neater finish, but fiddly to do.
Lastly I applied the neck tie as if sewing on a collar, it hides the messy bits and is far more comfortable to wear with no hem sticking out.

Pussy cat bow….
Thank you Love Sewing Magazine and Sew Simple a great collaboration
