I have been saving this project from the beginning of April.
I wanted to show you it in detail, as part of the stitched journal project that is hosted at Lola Novas blog every month.
You may already know that I attended a superb workshop at Hope and Elvis taught by the super talented Mrs Bertimus…
This piece of stitchery was the result of my endeavors….
The Swan Queen
…machine embroidered, appliqued, and hand stitched.
I learnt so much from Mrs B.
I learnt how to look at a piece from different angles,
I learnt how to look at the negative spaces too….
and to juxtapose my detailed brighter stitches upon them.
I learnt dark and light, and how to build an image piece by piece.
I have a lot to learn, but I immensely enjoyed making this textile project.
During the summer (holidays when not under work pressure and deadlines!) I plan on continuing this new found occupation.
I even like the back!?
I have ideas and plans.
Do take a look at Lola Novas Blog to see the other stitched Journal projects for this month….
