The crazily addictive McCall’s 3341 skirt and maybe a sew-along?
McCall’s 3341 This is skirt make number five from this pattern.
One of those projects you can’t wait to do and you have to do it NOW.
It has jumped ahead of the almost completed number 4.
A reminder of the completed first three
This gorgeous vintage fabric was bought on Monday at the vintage Fair, I posted about the fair here
It is a heavy linen.
I bought it from the equally gorgeous Donna Flower
There was not a lot of this fabric, but knowing this pattern so well, I knew I could squeeze a skirt out of it.
You can read about my original skirt post here and my more recent one here
The problem was finding time to sew it!
I finished it this morning. I started it just before bedtime last night. I dreamt of invisible zips!
The excitement came from the combination of adoring this fabric and being able to use my new best friend…..
A brother overlocker taa daah, yes I have an overlocker at last.
I used it on the hem and the seams of this skirt and to finish the facing at the waist.
One of the best things that I did not realise about an overlocker, is that when you use it it takes away a lot of the bulk when working with thicker fabrics.
So the skirt is complete and I am wearing it today…do you want to see?
I had to set the self timer on the camera, I have the house to myself which is pure bliss but the drawback is no photographers to be had.
I think the neighbours had a laugh to see me running back and forth dancing around all by myself
(Please note I am being very brave today and showing you my whole self.)
By the way, did you see Jacquie’s post from Bunny Mummy she has also made a lovely skirt from this pattern.
An Idea
Would you like to do a ‘sew along’ we can all make this skirt together, stage by stage,
From cutting to sewing,
I will post the stages and some helpful instructions
Then if you have any problems or questions you can ask and we can all help you.
…..we can do a linky thing and show all our skirts at the end!
???????
If you want me to do this let me know
what do you think?
You will need….
