Extolling the virtues of McCall’s sewing pattern 3341 a beginners dream!
Am I right in thinking that a lot of us have been inspired to break out our sewing machines by a certain sewing programme on BBC2?
I know am very lucky, I have a sewing room to myself, my sewing machine(s) are never put away.
Therefore for anyone who has dusted off their sewing machine and is inspired to have a go I would like to recommend a pattern for you?
A perfect make for spring.
McCall’s 3341
A wonderful ‘a’ line skirt pattern, fits like a dream, simple instructions and takes less than a meter of fabric depending on your size and fabric.
It was the pattern used in Series one of Great British Sewing Bee, Series 1, episode 1.
This is a perfect first pattern for beginners as it helps you learn about fit, but for experienced sewers it can be run up in a couple of hours or less.
I have made three, there are no waistbands ……just a zip, some darts and three seams.
and you can add trims!!
I am currently sewing my fourth version of this skirt!.
I have blogged about my first two here and here
A word about pattern envelope pictures, try to ignore the styling, look at how ‘dodgy’ this picture is?
Just imagine how you would wear the skirt, how you would style it and how different it would look in a funky fabric.!
Handy tip: when I am sewing with a pattern I use a small plastic bag to keep all my pieces handy, as sometimes you need to use them twice or refer to them again and this saves losing them, as I have been known to do?!
Give it a go even if you are new to sewing….?
