My weekend project: Industrial Cacti Garden diy

10/03/2014

There is a story to this project, it has a few strands that tie it together….

Strand One:

A few weeks ago my talented other half brought home some kindling for the fire, he had chopped it up at work and ‘chucked’ it in the nearest available container.

I took a fancy to this container, asked him to clean it and claimed it for myself.

He was not suprised!

It was put in the garage for storage whilst I honed the finer details of my plan.

Strand Two:

Before christmas the 12 year old rescued some very prickly cacti from a friends house.

They were due to be thrown away and like me he could not bear to see this happen to a living plant.

I dusted, sprayed them, gave them tlc and positioned them around the house.

They nagged at me, I love a collection but dislike clutter.

The Project:

A eureka moment!

…… combine my newly aquired industrial container and the rescued cacti.

(add a photo bomber et voila….ouch!)

In other words I planned to make an ‘Industrial Chic’ Cacti Garden……

Here is how I did it

Fill the container with gravel for drainage….

(have an assistant check for interesting odours ?!)

add your cacti compost, choose your plants and position high to low…..

Handy Hint wear gloves!

Bring inside and position in a warm dry place….

Mine is in the conservatory.

Plenty of light but not too cold.

I may add a gravel topping at a later date?

I think they look happy don’t you?

we are…
bestest Monday happy wishes to you
the sun is out again here?
Shhhhh

Id love it if you shared this post!
