If you read this post you will know there was more to come….
A dress
Not just a dress,
My favourite childhood dress.
I wore it when I was seven.
It came with me to Switzerland, on my first ever trip abroad.
My nan and Grandad, took me on holiday with them.
It was a very big treat back then, it was 1970 and we flew.
The aeroplane was magical, there were meals in the back of the seats!
At age seven, there and then, I decided I would be an ‘air hostess’
Age 21 my dream came true I became a ‘Caledonia girl’ and later flew for BA.
This dress will be forever a part of my childhood dreams.
Blues like this remain my favourite colours and I am a huge fan of retro prints.
I would buy this dress today.
The dress has one inner side pocket….I wonder what I kept in there?
It is from Marks and Spencers.
As was most of my dresses in those days….
I love my darling Nan’s outfit in picture below.
…. she made her dress, I had some of the scraps later and made my ‘Tressy’ doll a version.
My memories of that time have blurred together, but I do remember those pigeons I was terrified of them.
It was strange seeing the dress come to life on my model.
It was like coming face to face with my 7 year old self…
I gave her a big hug.
